Vehicle Description Super clean Mopar convertible that drives great.
318 V8 with automatic.
New interior and top.
Straight bodywork that looks awesome in bright red.
Starts easy, runs strong, great sound from new dual exhaust.
Nice ragtop at an attractive price!Don't be misled by the 'Coronet 440' badges on the flanks of this car?Chrysler was doing some weird stuff with names and calling their upscale Coronet the '440' was probably a mistake.
It causes a lot of confusion today, but let me clear it up?it's the name of the model, not the engine size.
This wasn't an original 440 car that was stepped down to a 318, it's a correct car that pretty much matches the fender tag.

White Convertible TopBright Red was this car's original color and a few years ago, someone gave it a nice repaint that looks fantastic today.
Starting with a super straight car surely helped, and you'll be impressed by how well the doors swing closed on this big ragtop.
In fact, everything fits together quite well and has a precision feel that's often lacking in cars of this vintage?Mopar did a decent job in that regard.
You'll note the sharp creases that make the Coronet look lean and mean are crisply rendered and all the factory trim was shined up and reinstalled once the paint was dry.
The fine grille up front looks quite nice with none of the pitting for which they were notorious and both bumpers appear to have been rechromed at some point.
Factory emblems were reinstalled, including the confusing 'CORONET 440' badges on the quarters, and even the panel between the taillights is in excellent shape.
We don't know where this car lived its life, but it was somewhere with kind weather, that's for sure.
The white vinyl interior is also how this car was originally ordered, and when it was reupholstered in the not-too-distant past, it received some matching red piping and embroidery to enhance the factory look.
New black carpets and a matching dash help anchor the interior and that's how it was originally delivered, so it looks right.
The big steering wheel offers a horn ring for a vintage vibe and remarkably, it's not broken or cracked.
Factory instruments cover the basics, including speed, temperature, fuel level, and an ammeter, and they all seem to be operational.
The original Music Master AM radio is still in place in the middle of the dash, right below the heater controls, but that's about it for options?kind of refreshing and it's a relief to know there's not much that can break.
Recent weather seals help it close up more tightly than most vintage ragtops, but it's not going to be like a modern car, of course.
Overhead there's a new white power convertible top that works effortlessly and stows under a matching white vinyl boot to give the car a clean look.
There's plenty of room in the back seat and the seat belts are a welcome sight.
The trunk is massive and includes a black carpet mat as well as the original jack in the driver's quarter panel and spare tire underneath.
The engine, as we mentioned, appears to be the original 318 cubic inch V8.
Chrysler wasn't doing matching numbers in the traditional sense on these cars in 1967, but we have no reason to believe it has been swapped?nobody abuses or races a 318, right? It shows quite well with Hemi Orange paint on the block, chrome valve covers, and an open-element air cleaner on top with a big '318' decal.
It starts easily, idles properly, and just works the way you want it to?no hassles.
We're more than impressed by how mechanically friendly this car really is.
You can easily see just how clean this car is by looking at the inner fenders and firewall, and there are a lot of new components under the hood to make it ready to run.
It's backed by a TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission, perhaps the most durable of its kind, and with 2.
94 gears in the 8.
75-inch rear end, it's an effortless cruiser even int today's world.
Power steering and power brakes are included and were standard equipment on the Coronet 440, again making this car easy for anyone to drive.
The exhaust features a true dual setup with Flowmaster mufflers, which probably adds a little power and a fantastic soundtrack.
You'll also note that the floors and rockers are in excellent condition, which helps explain why those doors close so well.
Air shocks in back give you the ability to fine-tune the ride and stance a bit, and it cruises like a luxury car because of it.
Magnum 500 wheels are always the right choice on a Mopar of this vintage, with these carrying fat 225/70/14 white letter radials that still have a lot of life left in them.
Extras include the original owner's manual and a show board with some technical specs on the car.
It's rare for an old car to impress us?we've seen it all.
But this humble Coronet opened our eyes simply with its user-friendly nature, great look, and yes, reasonable price.
If you're looking for a fantastic summertime cruiser that doesn't bite back, take a closer look.
And never mind the goofy moniker, because a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.
