Vehicle Description Beautifully built F250 in the pro-touring style.
408 Windsor stroker motor, Tremec 5-speed manual, air suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, custom LED lighting.
Still functional as a pickup with full-sized bed.
This is resto-mod done right! If you like the way old trucks look but don't like the way they drive-because, let's face it, they're pretty primitive-then this 1968 Ford F250 should be of interest.
It still retains the traditional good looks that these trucks have always had, now bathed in familiar Ford Vintage Burgundy and Wimbledon White, but adds a level of performance that they couldn't have dreamed of in 1968.
Make no mistake, it still works as a full-sized pickup and doesn't mind doing a little work on weekends, but in its heart, this F250 thinks it's a Mustang.
The clean, chiseled looks of the original design work quite well here and there was no need for serious modifications, so all the original brightwork and emblems were retained and nothing was chopped.
Instead, they focused on getting the bodywork right, and this sucker is laser-straight, even on those massive bed sides that are nearly nine feet long.
The only notable change is the door handles, which are from Dave Kindig and fit flush with the bodywork-press on them, and they pop out so they're easy to grab.
New emblems, trim, and lenses were installed to give it a crisp, finished look and the bed was treated to both a color-matched spray-in bedliner and a heavy-duty mat, so it's ready to work or play.
The interior design team took the same approach-upgrade it without changing what it is.
That means you'll find a comfortable bench seat with a split back, so it has a bit more support than the stock seat.
Custom door panels were stitched to match and give it a more upscale look, and there are thick carpets on the floor that help control noise and heat.
The original steering wheel remains in place so it still feels old school when you're at the helm, and you'll note the factory instruments were replaced by trick custom dials that fit in the original locations without disrupting the dashboard's design.
You also get cold A/C, a custom pre-programmed head unit for the air suspension that fits neatly in the cigarette lighter receptacle, and a modest center console with cup holders.
The long handle on the 5-speed manual gearbox manages a Hurst linkage and falls easily to hand.
There's also a powerful entertainment system that does a pretty convincing impersonation of the original AM radio.
Someone got the details right on this one.
This Ford remains 100 Blue Oval thanks to a 408 cubic inch Windsor V8 under the hood (that's a stroked 351W).
It's making well over 400 horsepower and an equal amount of torque, so even this full-sized pickup feels quick.
It's beautifully detailed under the hood with a custom billet aluminum accessory drive, Ford Motorsports valve covers, and an engine block painted to match the bodywork.
Under the finned aluminum air cleaner there's a Holley fuel injection system so it starts easily, idles properly, and has the kind of throttle response that's difficult to match with a simple carburetor.
And as with the rest of the truck, virtually everything is brand new, from the ignition system, to the aluminum radiator, to the overflow bottle.
It's backed by a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox with easy shift action and a tall overdrive, so the 3.
89 gears out back still cruise nicely on the highway.
Remarkably, it still uses a Twin I-Beam front suspension, which now sits on air springs so you can fine-tune the attitude.
A custom dual exhaust system tucks both pipes in tight on the right side of the frame, with dual tips just behind the right rear wheel.
It sounds awesome! There's also a massive new gas tank, a stainless tank for the air ride suspension system, and a big disc brake at all four corners.
Floors and cab corners are super solid and beautifully finished, and again, just about everything is new.
18-inch aluminum wheels have a vintage Shelby look and carry fat 295/45/18 performance radials all around.
Documentation is extensive, including original purchase documents, Ownercard, various manuals and receipts for most of the components that went into the build, 1968 Ford truck sales brochures, factory shop manuals, and a set of hubcaps.
Is a heavy-duty pickup ready to be a performance vehicle? Look at the beautiful build quality on this Ford F250 and you'll understand that maybe it can be both.
There's a ton of money invested here and it works as great as it looks.
Get in, fire it up, and hit the road without worrying about an old tech ride.
